VERDICT

Many credit Tesla with sparking the electric car switchover, but in reality, the Roadster, the Model S and the cars that followed were only ever an aspiration for most motorists. The Nissan Leaf, in contrast, makes the strongest case yet for the average car owner to stop filling up and start plugging in. It goes further, charges faster and is bursting with smart technology. It’s even pretty fun to drive, too! The Leaf is a car you really ought to try. 9/10
