There are some hotels that are destined to stay with you long after you’ve gone home. Grace Santorini is one such place.
The chic resort is embedded in the vertiginous slopes of Imerovigli, a small enclave close to Fira on the western coast of the island. Its layout gracefully trickles down five levels on its approach to the Aegean. The top and middle tiers are dedicated to dazzling communal spaces which include a champagne bar, a modern restaurant and one of the most staggering infinity pools that we’ve had the pleasure of dipping our toes in.
Bedrooms, many of which offer private plunge pools, gaze out over the area’s inky caldera, evoking a sense of tranquillity that pervades the hotel. Design is impeccable throughout: elegant, contemporary and effortlessly suited to the Greek colour palette. Expect whiter-than-white linens and window shutters, marble lampshades, sculptural dark wood furniture and gigantic walk-in rain showers laden with full-sized Apivita amenities which guests select prior to their arrival. Poolside breakfasts come with champagne and a flavoursome, daily changing menu of sweet and savoury Mediterranean plates.
