3 “If you have done a light run, there is no need for a high-carb drink like this one, as you will not have exhausted all of your carb stores.”
1 “Sports drinks will all contain electrolytes – potassium and sodium – which are essential for recovery after exercise,” adds nutritionist Holmes.
2 “However, be careful to avoid any sports drinks which are entirely glucose-based. Choose something with a mix of carbs as well as protein.”
3 “Coconut water is also a good alternative to sports drinks – it contains electrolytes on top of natural sugars.”
