CREATE A LUSH SHADY CORNER

-

Shady areas are often overlooked in summer gardens, as attention is drawn to flowers in the sun. Yet a well-tended shady corner can provide interest and a place to retreat from the heat. Create a lush oasis using bold, architectural shade-loving foliage plants such as fatsia, ferns and hostas. Add in flowering plants such as heucheras, tiarellas and begonias that are happy out of the sun. Move shade-loving houseplants such as spider plants, aspidistra, tradescantia and cane begonias outside. They’re happiest out of the sun in a cool shady spot.
