Up the garden path

I wanted to create a pathway between a curved border and my lawn. I marked it out with bricks to check how it would look, then marked the edge I needed to dig with a hose. As I dug out the path, I regularly used a spirit level to check that it was level. Then I lined it with a weed-suppressing membrane. Next I cemented in the brick edging on both sides, butting it close against the lawn edge. Finally I filled it with gravel. Shaun Collin, by email
