Don’t forget...

-

REMOVE SHADING The strength of the sun is waning now so it’s important to maximise the amount of light inside your greenhouse. EMPTY COMPOST BINS Use well-rotted compost as a mulch in your garden and make room in your compost bin for foliage and flowers you’ll be clearing from borders and containers in the autumn. MOVE PLANTS The soil is still warm, so now’s a great time to move any deciduous plants around that are in the wrong place.

SOW GREEN MANURES Hardy green manures, such as Hungarian grazing rye, will stand over winter and protect the structure of the soil during spells of heavy rain.

BRING TENDER PLANTS

INDOORS Lift and pot up non-hardy plants and pop them into a porch, conservatory or greenhouse if low temperatures are forecast.
