Ideally, they’ll have foliage that dies down quickly so you can cut the grass before it gets too long and won’t leave dead patches after mowing. Crocus, snowdrops and small, early daffodils are the most popular but you can also plant scillas, chionodoxas, corydalis and fritillaries. Buy big bulbs and recommended cultivars.
