Treasured memories

-

I really enjoyed your Perfect seed sowing article (GA May), which brought back such happy memories of my granny showing me how to plant seeds when I was a child. Thanks to her encouragement, I’ve happily grown plants from seed for years, but your article reminded me of two things she used to do. First was to tap the seed container on the bench and strike off the excess compost with a piece of board; second was to create straight rows outside by pushing a cane length ways into the soil to form a straight run. Thank you for evoking those memories. Jane Phillips, North Somerset PS. I’ve also discovered from your magazine that an iris shares my name!
