Rosa ‘Climbing Mrs Herbert Stevens’ This fragrant, vigorous climber with greenishwh­ite loosely-petalled flowers can take a north wall. H3.5m (11ft) S2.5m (8ft) Hydrangea arborescen­s ‘Annabelle’ Produces large balls of white flowers, early summer to autumn, in sun or part shade. Useful in a north-facing border. H and S2m (6½ft) Tulipa ‘White Triumphato­r’ A tall, elegant lilyflower­ed tulip that brings splashes of white in late spring. Needs full sun. H60cm (2ft) S15cm (6in) Wisteria floribunda ‘Alba’ Foot-long white flower clusters, strongly scented at night, look impressive in early summer on a west-facing wall. H and S9m (30ft) Jasminum officinale Vigorous climber with star-shaped flowers, whose sweet fragrance is strongest in a warm, sheltered spot. Can look messy in winter. H12m (40ft) S10m (33ft) Digitalis purpurea albiflora Although not night scented, these tall spires will add real impact in a twilight garden in early summer. H1m (3ft 3in) S50cm (20in) Lilium regale ‘Album’ Elegant, trumpetsha­ped lily flowers have a rich, sweet scent that’s strongest in the evening. Lovely in a pot. H1.5m (5ft) S35cm (14in) Impatiens ‘Sunpatiens Compact White’ Busy Lizzies are useful ‘fillers’ and this one gives white flowers that last all summer into autumn. H and S60cm (2ft) Nicotiana sylvestris Night-scented flowering tobacco will self sow. Its long tubular summer flowers have a jungly look. H1.5m (5ft) S50cm (20in) Narcissus ‘Thalia’ A useful addition in spring, this delicate multi-headed pure white daffodil looks effective planted in swathes. H40cm (16in) S15cm (6in)
