I was really disappointed not to be able to buy plants while self-isolating. It meant I was forced to leave my small garden to its own devices and just keep it tidy. However, as it turns out, I’ll probably be adopting the same approach next year!
The garden has been a wealth of colour and surprises. Up popped self-sown foxgloves, field and Welsh poppies – all of which arrived under their own steam.
I’ve also had the treat of bees and butterflies enjoying the flowers. Well done, Mother Nature!

This foxglove has sneaked in with salvia ‘Hot Lips’ and rose ‘D’Arcy Bussell’, offering a lovely new colour combination. It means I’ll have to move nearby yellow rose ‘Graham Thomas’ this autumn. So many plans made during lockdown! Shirley Oades, by email
