Cut down lilies
Once has finished and the old leaves and stems have had a chance to die back (thus feeding the bulbs), it’s safe to cut back the old tatty growth. In larger containers, leave the lilies to regrow next year – just remove the top 10cm (4in) of compost and replace with fresh. Alternatively, lift and replant the bulb clumps in the garden, or separate them out and pot up singly to propagate.
