Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’

A tall, upright grass that turns rich shades of brown from early autumn. Holds its shape until spring.H1.5m (5ft) S70cm (28in)

Choose grasses whose foliage changes colour as they mature. Here the design uses gold, green and bleached-blond tones for contrast. Deciduous grasses tend to age to a softer colour.

Plant in blocks of three, five and seven to maximise the impact of grasses. Oddnumbered multiples always look more natural.
