Why is one hamamelis branch leafless?

Q

- SHEILA YOUNG, BY EMAIL

AOne whole branch wilting after it came into leaf could be due to the bark being damaged – perhaps while mowing – or a fungal infection.

Cut the affected branch right back to the plant’s base. Keep grass away and mulch with compost, so you don’t have to mow as close.

Water, mulch and feed the plant as required and it will grow back good as new.
