Plant identification
Q What’s this foliage plant with pink flowers and red berries?
APodophyllum is a very beautiful woodland plant. It’s a shade-loving rhizomatous perennial with huge, deeply lobed leaves that can get scorched in full sun. The small dark red flowers appear in May or June, singly or in clusters. Although it’s frost hardy, it’s worth mulching in winter with leafmould or homemade compost to protect the roots and keep weeds at bay. It’s one to cherish!
