Passionflower wins top spot

A black and white photograph of a tightly coiled passionflower tendril (above) has scooped top prize in the latest round of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition 2020. Brazilian Bruno Militelli from Sao Paulo took the winning picture, called Botanic Loop, winning £500 in the process. Coronavirus permitting, the photo will feature at the flagship IGPOTY exhibition at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 2021.

In second place came Anne Macintyre from St Albans, with her intriguing Mountains of Tulip Petals (above). Tony North from Manchester was Highly Commended for his Common Blues on Apple Mint (left).
