Garden Alchemy by Stephanie Rose (£14.99, Cool Springs Press) A hands-on guide for making your own natural plant food, potting soil, compost, organic fertilisers and pest sprays. It reads like a recipe book for the garden and is full of practical advice, clear instructions and step-by-step photos. There are some great gift ideas too, such as making your own seed bombs using paper and clay.
