Don’ t forget...

PLANT BAREROOT SHRUBS Order them soon because the bareroot season is nearly over. Dormant bareroot plants are cheaper than potted ones and establish well once their roots have settled in.

PRUNE BUDDLEIA Cut back all congested, weak or damaged stems to the ground, and leave the rest of the strong stems at 30–60cm (1-2ft) above the ground, cutting just above a bud or new shoot.

CHECK MEDITERRANEAN PLANTS These plants don’t like winter wet, so make sure potted plants are raised on pot feet. Surround border plants with gravel to keep their leaves off soggy soil.

CREATE AN INDOOR GARDEN Plant a group of cacti or succulents in a decorative pot with drainage holes and cactus compost. Wear thick gloves for spiny specimens. Top with gravel or stone chippings.
