Q Why have my carrots split?

A Your carrots look generally good but splitting is usually a sign that they dried out before watering. In the past hot summer, it was important to water raised beds regularly, especially in well-drained soil.

Be careful about applying a granular fertiliser midway through the growing season because a sudden boost of nutrients can cause issues too. Liquid feeding would be better.
