WOOD
Wooden containers are light- to midweight; hardwoods are generally heavier than softwoods. They can be very ornate or more utilitarian, provide good insulation, and are generally inexpensive. They add character and come in a variety of timbers and colours. You’ll need to apply a plant-friendly preservative, stain or paint regularly to prevent rotting. The wood can split or rot but they can be painted or made from pressure-treated timber to prolong their life. Rot-resistant redwood and cedar need less maintenance.
