Pamela’s top tips

-

1 Planning for the winter garden ma ers just as much as the summer, so make sure you pay a ention to structure. 2 Think about how you can best show off your plant. Free-flowering roses look lovely next to the defined shapes of topiary, or upright irises with their thin, linear leaves look interesting next to the round, purple leaves of ligularia. 3 Simplicity is be er than having too much going on. A drift of one plant through the border looks lovely, whereas a mix of too much colour and form can be overwhelming. 4 Hard lines of paths and borders can be softened by plants spilling over the edges. Le ing some plants self-seed in the cracks of pathways can look very charming – just don’t let them get out of control!
