Four practical tips to start up your border

-

1 Designate a fairly sizeable spot to your new white border – larger clumps of white plants will create more of an impact. 2 If you’re laying a new border, a tip for planning its edges is to curve a hose into the exact position you want before using a spade or lawn edger to mark it out. 3 Remove weeds from the soil, and loosen it by forking it over lightly on the surface. Fork in some compost or rotted manure. 4 Lay out where you want your plants before you plant them – be aware of the eventual heights of all of them, as well as how far apart they’re spaced – they’ll need room to breathe! Plant from the largest container first to the smallest container last. Water them all in well.
