Step by step

1 Add a thin layer of polystyrene or rocks to the boom of a large tub for good drainage.

2 Fill up to about a third of the way with a good multi-purpose compost and level off neatly.

3 Place about three or four potatoes with most of their chits facing up into the tub.

4 Cover over with a good layer of more compost and water in well. Place in a sunny spot.
