QLaurel is usually a good bet in a shady spot. Your issue may be a lack of moisture, so consider if it’s practical to water thoroughly once a week in dry spells.
Alternatively, you could try replacing with the related Portuguese laurel ( Prunus lusitanica) or with Elaeagnus ebbingei, which is about as close a match as you’ll get.
