Pinch out tomato sideshoots

-

If you’re growing tomatoes as cordons or single stems – rather than bush tomatoes – growth needs to be focused on the main stem. This should be supported upright using a sturdy cane and tied in at regular intervals. Any sideshoots that appear from the main stem at the leaf joints need to be removed as quickly as possible. Snap them off with your fingers or cut them with a sharp knife or scissors – and watch for further sideshoots emerging from the same points later.
