Protect animals by avoiding these garden hazards
Slug pellets
If using slug pellets in your garden, avoid ones containing metaldehyde, which is poisonous to pets.
Cocoa mulch
Made of cocoa bean shells, like chocolate, they can be harmful if eaten by dogs. Use an alternative such as bark chip.
Garden tools
Just like humans, an upturned rake or fork can cause injury to a curious pet. Always hang up your tools when finished.
Conkers and acorns
These are toxic if eaten and may also cause choking. Clear them up, especially if you have an inquisitive puppy.
