Groundwork, a charity promoting and supporting work and projects in the community, has launched a new awards scheme recognising outstanding projects around the UK and those doing their most to make them a success.

The charity has 10 categories for the competition, with one specifically for best community garden or green space, but horticulturally-themed schemes and/or those involved can still enter other categories. The public can also nominate a scheme or individual.

Broadcaster and landscape designer Mark Lane will host the final awards ceremony in London on November 2. Mark is Groundwork’s Health, Wellbeing and Community Ambassador.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for residents, groups, workers, charities, volunteers and individuals to be recognised for the extraordinary work they put in. It’s these people that uplift and make a difference to their own and to the life of others,” said Mark. l Deadline for nominations is August 25.
