Carry on watering

-

My pot-grown peppers and aubergines in the polytunnel are looking good. I grow them this way so the slightly restricted roots encourage plenty of flowers and fruit. It also prevents the plants from getting too large and leafy. Being in pots, it’s important to water on a regular basis to keep the compost moist at all time. As soon as flowers start to develop and set, it’s time to feed weekly with a high potash fertiliser, such as tomato feed. This helps the fruits to develop and ripen later in the summer. I also keep an eye open for pests, pests especially greenfly, which can be a problem on both peppers and aubergines.
