Stop your tomatoes at six trusses
When growing tomatoes, the challenge for UK gardeners is to get plants to produce ripe fruits before the end of summer. As a result, it’s be er to limit the number of flowering stems (trusses) to allow the plant tto channelhl itsit energy into fewer but be er crops. The trusses appear directly from the stem rather than leaves, and once your plant has produced six of these, pinch off any additional flowers that appear, using your fingers and thumb. Pinch out the main shoot at the top to encourage the plant to produce fruits rather than superfluous leaves and stems.
