Poached egg plant ( Limnanthes douglasii)

Another American annual, this forms low mats of ferny leaves and in spring erupts into carpets of white-edged, bright yellow flowers. The glossy petals make the flowers especially popular with honey bees and it flowers for several months. The pollen-rich flowers also attract hoverflies, potential predators of greenfly. Height: 15cm (6in).
