Get ′em while they’re fresh!

It’s best not to harvest too early (with the strange exception of pears, which like to be gently ripened off the tree) or worse, too late, if you’re planning to store produce. The best way to tell if something’s ready is to taste it! Some vegetables, such as runner beans, will keep producing as long as you pick them – it’s up to you to decide when to give them a rest.
