Use that bare soil!
A bare patch of ground is a sad thing. There’s plenty to sow even now – broad beans, winter salads and, of course, garlic and overwintering onions, to name just a few. Still got bare soil? There’s a green manure for every season; field beans or a special winter mix will be perfect this time of year. Even just a cosy blanket of manure, left for the worms to take down, will help improve fertility for next year.
