Size matters…

● The buzzard goes by the nickname ‘tourist eagle’. When there were fewer around visitors to the Highlands would often return home convinced that they’d spotted a golden eagle – when they’d actually seen a buzzard!

With a wingspan of 1.2m (4ft), a buzzard does seem big (if you’re more used to watching blue tits). They look the part too; their wings have flight feathers that spread like splayed fingers and are held straight as the bird rides thermals.
