Check on forced hyacinths

-

If you’re forcing hyacinths for Christmas, the bulbs will be ready to bring out of your chosen dark, cool place about eight weeks after planting. In the meantime, check and water the container lightly every one to two weeks to keep the hyacinths moist. Once the bulbs have produced 4-5cm (1½-2in) tall shoots and a good root system, you can bring them into the light. Keep them in a cool place out of direct sunlight for a week, then grow them on in a warmer, brighter spot. They should flower in about three weeks.
