Water Christmas potatoes in bags

If you planted potatoes in bags or pots in summer for a Christmas harvest, don’t forget to keep an eye on them. They’ll need earthing up, just as they would in the ground, covering the green shoots with compost as they grow, up to 5cm (2in) below the top of the bag or container. Water them weekly and give them a liquid feed. The foliage will be damaged by frost, so make sure your bag is housed in a frost-free greenhouse, porch or cool conservatory.
