Sow kohlrabi

-

It’s a wonderfully distinctive and underrated brassica, and one to experiment with in comparison to our usual hardy brassicas. You can prepare your kohlrabi area for sowing, which will have hopefully been limed already. Improve the site with a few handfuls of Growmore general fertiliser to settle in for a week or two. Firm in the soil well. In a week or two, sow seed in drills, 1½cm (¾in) deep. Your crop will mature around the end of May. Moisture and rich soil will provide you with great plants – try the variety ‘Superschmelz’, which can produce monster heads to harvest.
