Grow unusual cane fruit

-

Being planted here is a tayberry, a raspberry and blackberry cross. This means growers can get the best out of each plant, all in one, and tayberries have lovely large, sweet fruit. They’re available now in garden centres, and need a good-sized pot, or plant in a sunny spot in the ground in compost or manure-improved and well-drained soil. When the fruits have changed from bright red to a more purple colour, it’s the perfect time to harvest them. Try ‘Buckingham’ from Thompson & Morgan, it’s thornless and easier to handle.
