John Stephens, Isle of Wight While its usual to divide dahlias in spring just as new growth is showing, you could divide large clumps of establishe­d dahlias in the ground now by simply inserting a sharp spade down the middle. Fork the remainder of the clump out. Sulphur no longer has approval as a fungicidal dust for bulbs and tubers, so remove any partially severed tubers to reduce the risk of rot. Water the remaining clump.
