Re-point any gaps in your paving

-

Mortar in the gaps between paving slabs can crack and break up as a result of long-term use, ground settlement or by rain and frost. Apart from spoiling the appearance of a path or patio, water can get down below slabs and they can start to move and dislodge. Weeds can also establish in the open gaps. Repointing joints with a sand and cement mix strengthens the paved area and makes it look better. Use a small, pointed trowel to work the mortar into the gaps and to give a smooth, neat finish.
