Would volcanic ash add minerals to my poor soil?

ABOB SAYS Ground rockdusts of various origins are often touted as wonder additives that are rich in minerals. These may aid poor, worked-out and sandy soils, but are pointless for most clay soils, which contain a wealth of fine minerals already. I suggest using calcified seaweed if you want to add minerals to your soil.
