After sales service

-

Looking ahead, your dealer should be the first port of call in the event of problems and annual servicing, so it’s good to build up a relationship from the start. But wherever your mower comes from, it should have had a full PDI (pre-delivery inspection similar to a new car but the aware, machines delivered by courier will come without fuel and possibly oil or other fluids. Check what’s included in the price and look beyond the RRP (recommended retail price) – this may compare favourably at first glance, but some models offer items such as mulch kit, deflector and towbar as ‘optional extras’, while others include them in the price. Also consider what other accessories can be used to tackle non-mowing tasks. Finance to spread the cost may be a consideration. This may be available from the retailer, but do check the small print for interest rates and terms and conditions. Warranties vary from one to five years and are only valid if the mower is serviced annually by your local dealer. Service costs differ according to mower type and your location, and it’s worth checking with your dealer to get an overview of running costs. While simple engine servicing tasks such as changing the oil and the filters could be done at home, a professional service can tackle more complex tasks such as balancing the cutting blades. Given the high initial outlay on these machines, skimping on maintenance could well be a false economy, as the right care can make a big difference to a long and productive life.
