Q How can we keep magpies off our bird table?

A BOB SAYS Magpies are bigger than most of the insectivorous birds we gardeners wish to encourage. To keep them away, surround your table with wide-mesh, galvanised chicken netting or similar wire net, which the smaller birds will be able to pass through but the magpies will not.
