Wind wicks away moisture but succulents with their fleshy leaves have adapted to cope with dry conditions. This basket is a mix of textures and forms using tender succulents in grey-blues. Add a mulch of pebbles or gravel to cover the compost and retain moisture. Pot up the plants in autumn before there’s a frost, keep in a heated greenhouse or on a windowsill over winter and plant out again in summer.
