Trim formal hedges

-

If your hedge is a formal garden feature it will need trimming a couple of times in the summer to keep it looking neat. Electric shears make light work of it, but hand shears do a good job too. Check first for birds’ nests and don’t disturb them if you find any. Work from the bottom to the top; use a measure to keep the top level. It’s a good idea to lay down a groundsheet to catch the clippings.
