Plant summer & autumn cabbage

-

Fast-hearting summer cabbage, and the slower and heavier autumn cultivars, are now ready for planting – either from seed sown under glass or as plugs from the garden centre. Make the rows 45cm apart and give plants the same space within each row. Cabbage grows best on firm ground. Water the planting holes before placing the young plants in up to their first leaves so that they are well supported in the ground. Water well until the plants are established, then soak occasionally when the weather is hot and dry.
