How to create a seasonal display

Place the pot in its final location before filling it with compost. Lightly firm the compost, and position any supports before adding the plants. Thoroughly water all the plants before taking them out of their pots – dry rootballs will remain dry and the plants will shrivel if not properly soaked at the outset. Plant any climbers at the foot of the support system and carefully tie in the stems with soft twine so that they are encouraged to climb. Add bushy plants, with trailers cascading over the edge. Leave no more than 10cm between plants so that they’ll fill the whole pot. Water in well.
