How to grow

-

Improve soil with organic matter and general fertiliser to aid growth. Site in sun and either shelter from wind or stake securely, as mature plants become top heavy. Make several sowings over time to enjoy a long harvest and avoid gluts – sowing the next batch when the first crop is about 15cm high is a good guide. Pinch out the top few centimetres of stem when beans start to form, to concentrate energy on the crop and deter aphids, which love succulent, young growth. Water thoroughly during dry spells, especially when flowers appear.
