Taste
The taste sense is really only relevant to any edibles you may grow. But even if you only have a small garden you can always grow produce in containers – a small range of fresh herbs will make a difference to your cooking.
Make it happen
Make late sowings of Oriental greens (pak choi, mizuna, mibuna) outdoors now as the soil is still warm. If you have a greenhouse sow some winter lettuce, too.
Keep harvesting as growth slows. Pick autumn-flowering raspberries and dig up any potatoes left in the ground.
Combine ornamentals with edibles. Fruit trees will flower and often have good autumn colour, as well as produce, so add plenty.
