Keep weeding

-

Many perennial weeds store energy for next year, and right now shoots will be dying back and strengthening the roots. If you can dig them out now there will be little left this season for them to get going again. Hoeing is no good for this; you need to get a trowel, fork or a spade and tackle them from under the ground. Only the hottest compost heap will kill everything, so take your weeds to a recycling centre. Some hardy annual weeds will continue to germinate, so keep hoeing or hand weeding them.
