Q Where should I store potatoes in winter?

- Liz, by email

A MATTHEW SAYS Potatoes keep best in a cool, dark, dry place such as a garage or shed. But a key factor is the conditions when they are lifted. Ideally, the weather should be dry, and the potatoes left on the soil surface to dry out for a day or so. Don’t wash the soil off – the resulting damp skin will lead to rotting.
