Support tall flowers

-

If some of your taller border flowers are beginning to get top heavy and lean over, give them some emergency support by ‘base staking’. This involves pushing a short cane into the ground, hidden among the foliage close to the stem. Pull the stem to the stake so it’s upright, then tie in. This will hold the stem upright, but there is a risk with this last-minute method that stems will snap in windy weather.
